Birthday Fun

Katie's third birthday turned into more of a birthday weekend this year.   The festivities started by making and taking these rainbow fruit kebobs to Sharry's on Thursday.  She had a lot of fun sharing them with her friends and the kids loved them.  Although note to self, January is not the best time of year to be making anything with fruit.  If I had bought what was in season they would have just been apple and orange kebobs.

The next day which was her actual birthday and Linda came over with all of the supplies for a Tinker Bell party, dress and wings included.  The girls enjoyed a very special snack of Trix yogurt, doughnuts, and chocolate milk.  Katie knew that was not anything mommy would buy so it was an extra special treat.

picture was taken with my phone so it's not the best but you get the idea

Later that night we met Janice, Glenn, and Linda at a great family restaurant called Billy McHales.

Janice and Glenn got the big 3 year old her own art easel.  It worked out perfectly too because we had a table that was in the back so it was perfect entertainment for the girls while we waited for our food.

And no birthday is complete without a chocolate sundae.  And Katie would have eaten the whole thing (girl has a sweet tooth like her mommy) but there was another reservation so we had to get going.

On Saturday we celebrated with grandma and papa.  We went to our favorite pizza place, Coconut Kenny's, and then came home and opened presents and had chocolate cupcakes that Katie helped put sprinkles on.

It was a wonderful weekend full of family and friends.  I still can't believe my first born is 3 years old already.  This birthday was hard for me emotionally and the only reason I could come up with was because she is now a preschooler and is the same age of the children I work with.   I can only imagine what 5 is going to be like when she goes off to Kindergarten.
