What a Day

Being a mommy means you have good days and bad days and while most of our days are great, yesterday was one where Jeff stopped by the house and found all three of us in tears.

It started out with Carly blowing out of her night time diaper and me changing her bedding and doing my first load of laundry at 5:30 am. Then about 20 minutes after her first feeding she throws up all over her bouncy seat, the floor, and my leg....laundry load #2. Of course soon after that when I am trying to get Katie's breakfast ready, I proceed to spill coffee all over the table, the floor, and my leg. Things are not looking good at this point but I try and stay positive.

We make it through a few peaceful hours but then Katie wants to go outside and I have to feed Carly so she proceeds to get into everything she knows she isn't supposed to. Just when I am about to break out her favorite DVD, "Signing Time", Carly finishes and I get Katie's shoes on and we head out the door. Not two minutes later Carly throws up all over the deck! I have never seen such a little person project so much. Thank goodness we were outside because it would have been awful inside. At this point I am full of puke and on the verge of tears, Katie is crying because she doesn't want to go inside, and Carly is miserable and obviously sick. Thank goodness for grandparents next door! I drop Katie off at their back door and go inside to clean up. And just when I think the morning couldn't get any worse, Carly poops all over the changing table AND somehow manages to get it on the wall too. This is when Jeff walks in, gives me a big hug, and tells me what a good mom I am.

Luckily the afternoon improved because nap time came, Carly kept her food down, and I was able to take a much needed shower. We aren't sure what made Carly sick but the doctor said it could have been a reaction from her shots. I am just glad it is over and last night she slept a full 9 hours again! Thank goodness because after the day I had, 7 hours of continuous sleep felt wonderful. Ahhh, the joys of motherhood.

Daddy and his girls after mommy's bad day

Friday morning update: She puked again twice this morning! We didn't go to the doctor yesterday because she seemed better but I am calling again this morning. I just don't know what is going on with poor Miss Carly. It's almost like she is eating too much on an empty stomach now that she is sleeping through the night. Times like this are when I wish babies could tell us how they feel.

I'm sorry for such a hard day. Is Carly spitting all the time? My dr told me to stop eating dairy, including eggs and Josie rarely spits up now. It's hard and not fun at first, but I'm totally used to it now. Hope the dr has something to make her feel better!
