Enjoying the Moment

As I sit here at the kitchen table at 6:00am with coffee in hand listening to Carly babble I am once again reminded how fast she is growing up.  She woke up in a great mood which is nice because she is teething and finally getting some top teeth.  She is sitting here at the table with me playing with her cereal in a bowl, drinking her milk, and "reading" a magazine.  In other words she is entertaining herself and we are having a wonderful conversation in an otherwise silent house.   Just now she tried to say "milk", "Ozzy", and "outside".  She is eager to learn the words for everything around her so she does a lot of pointing and I do a lot of labeling.  I think it's amazing how children develop language just by hearing it around them.  This moment just made me realize my little one will be like Katie before I know it and there won't be any more quiet mornings like this.  So I am going to enjoy this stage to the fullest and soak it all up.  She is growing up too fast!

Garner Girl Happenings

This weekend we had our first snow of the season and Katie absolutely loved it!  Last winter we only had one snow storm and she wasn't walking yet so this was really her first time experiencing snow.  She was so excited to wake up and see it out her window and even more excited when she got to go run around in it.  It was very cold and windy but she didn't care, she was having a blast.  Here are some pictures from our snowy fun.

Rosy cheeks after playing out in the wind

Katie is also getting very excited for Christmas.  She loves singing "Frosty the Snowman" and "Jingle Bells".  On our way to and from Sharry's she requests Christmas music and tries to sing along even though she doesn't know most of the words.  Her vocabulary is expanding like crazy and every day I am amazed at the things her little mind comes up with.  She loves playing pretend right now with her babies.  She also likes to play doctor which means daddy and I are frequently patients.  This morning we even heard her trying to get Ozzy to cooperate but that didn't go over so well.  :)

Carly is almost 5 months old now and continues to be a very happy baby.  She smiles whenever she is smiled at and loves giggling with her big sister.  She also is working hard on her gross motor skills and has discovered how to roll all around the room.  She loves it, but unfortunately as soon as I pick her up she spits up.  Hopefully we will get that under control more when we go back to Children's for our follow up appointment on the 29th.  Her poop is getting a little better but still far from normal.  She still isn't sleeping through the night which is frustrating, but I know it will happen eventually.  At this point she wakes up somewhere between 12:30-4:00 wanting a bottle.  The good thing is she goes to bed very easily and falls back asleep quickly after she eats. Here are some pictures of our baby girl.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! We are having a lazy day getting some much needed stuff done around the house.  We even started decorating for Christmas...tis the season!

Growing Up

I am at a loss for things to talk about in this post so I am just going to keep it simple. I love seeing my baby girl growing up right before my eyes. Each day I see more growth in her language, motor skills, independence, and her personality. It's amazing how fast little ones at this age learn new skills. She is talking all of the time and each day we pick up new words like corn, phone, and tree. She is also really starting to put the sign together with the word which I love. Now when it is time to go take a bath, I tell her "let's go take a bath" and she gets up and starts walking to the bathroom while making the sign for bath. I love it!

She is even eating more like a big girl now and will use a spoon correctly after I put the food on it. She also takes bites out of sandwiches which I accidentally discovered when we were at the Home and Garden Show this past weekend and I had to feed her in the stroller. I never knew baby's gums were so tough! I am sure it helps to have two very sharp bottom teeth as well.

And just yesterday when I was taking some pictures of her playing I noticed how she is looking more like a toddler instead of a baby. She is also starting to act more like one too especially when she gets mad when you tell her "no". It's so hard for Jeff and I not to laugh when she just melts to the floor crying because I wouldn't let her go in the pantry or out the garage door. I am afraid we are going to have one strong willed little girl on our hands.

Here are some pictures I took yesterday of her playing. Enjoy!
